The draft of the original script was called "The Babysitter Murders" and "The Night He Came Home".
The film was directed by John Carpenter. Donald Pleasence played Dr. Sam Loomis, Jamie Lee Curtis played Laurie Strode, and the role of Michael Myers, who was referred to as a "Figure" in the credits, was shared by actors Nick Castle, Tony Moran, Debra Hill and Tommy Lee Wallace.
The plot of the film centers on Myers' escape from a psychiatric hospital and the subsequent murder of several teenagers, while Dr. Loomis tries to track down and stop the killer. "Halloween" is considered a classic among horror films and one of the most influential films in this genre in its era.
