Three years ago, the Internet popularity of President Trump's youngest son increased so much that for the first time in history, the White House made an official statement asking to leave the child alone. We recall what really happened, and who else of the presidential offspring was honored to be "chosen" by the press, television and online trolls.

A statement posted on the whitehouse website.gov 4 days after the inauguration, impersonal and concise ("According to a long tradition, the children of presidents are given the opportunity to grow up without political attention. The White House fully expects that it will be continued"). But it was impossible not to understand what, and most importantly, who it was about.

Hysteria about the "inadequacy" of Barron Trump began to take the form of mass, and two days earlier Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of the 42nd US President Bill Clinton, tried to suspend her on Twitter, writing:

Among the reasons why President Trump's son became an Internet star at such a young age, there is one curious: this is the first boy who will finally appear in the White House since 1963 (for a second, it's more than half a century!).

Kennedy's firstborn, John Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr. He was born 16 days after his father was elected head of the country and spent the first three years of his life in the presidential mansion in Washington. The kid grew up almost in front of the whole country, thanks to which he earned the nickname "son of America".

Barron Trump was also awarded a title, though much less flattering — he is called "rain man" (by analogy with the character of the film of the same name - a genius and autistic). It is not entirely clear where the prerequisites for this came from, because the younger Trump was rarely in sight during his father's election campaign.

Melania tried to keep him in the shadows. He appeared in public three times: during Trump's campaign trip to South Carolina, at his speech at the Republican National Convention and during a speech after winning the presidential election.

The latter was won back by the media community in full. On November 11, 2016, that is, almost immediately after the announcement of the results of the presidential race, the TV presenter of the popular American show The View, comedian Rosie O'Donnell posted on her Twitter a link to the video and the question: is the president's son autistic?

In fact, O'Donnell's post was a retweet — she replicated a video posted on YouTube by blogger James Hunter a little earlier. It was a mounted selection of "strange" and "unusual" (like a closed facial expression and uncoordinated actions of hands and/or feet) moments of Barron Trump's behavior, supported by statements about him by his father and mother, which were taken from interviews from different periods of the family's life.

The video promoted the author's assumption that Donald Trump's youngest son is autistic. Melania, having taken control of the situation, ensured that the video was deleted from the portal. The development of this episode did not have much success: all Americans are aware that O'Donnell quarreled with Trump ten years ago.

The inauguration of President Trump has become a new impetus for hundreds of thousands of comments on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #barrontrump. The video, in which during the inaugural parade, Barron Trump abruptly pulls his hand away from Melania (and then prefers to walk next to his father, not his mother), excited social networks.

The most popular joke about Trump's youngest son on the night of the announcement of the election results was the following: "Someone put the child to bed or give him an energy drink!" (November 8, 2016)

But they were blown up by a tweet by a certain Katie Rich (as it turned out later, the screenwriter of another favorite American TV show Saturday Night Live) - biting, cold and generally even cruel. Ms. Rich wrote that the younger Trump would probably be "the first home school shooter," implying that the president's son, with his appearance and behavior, resembles typical difficult American teenagers who solve their problems in a way notorious to the country.

A short time after the recording, the account was blocked, after which there was only one entry left in it, saying that Katie Rich "sincerely regrets the thoughtless and hurtful words" (it later became known that the apology did not help - NBC terminated her contract).

A little earlier, the media did not fail to note the absence of Barron as part of the Trump family at the pre-inauguration concert. Why the son was not with them, the parents did not explain, saying only that he was at home. But after all, Sasha Obama, for example, was not at the event on January 10, when her father gave a farewell speech as president of the United States! In general, it is difficult to imagine what number of rumors and gossip generated by the absence of Barron Trump in the White House, albeit temporary.

He loves baseball and does not miss the opportunity to play golf with his father (for which he specially takes lessons). He doesn't have any official social media accounts, and those registered in his name belong to fans.

In general, Barron behaves like a normal teenager, and Melania herself contributed to the creation of an ambiguity and "peculiarity" around him. It just happened before Barron Trump became the son of the US president.

For example, in an interview with Parenting, she described him as a "smart, but very specific boy" who "likes to play alone and can do it for hours" and said that unlike his peers, he does not decorate the walls of his room with drawings and posters, but prefers pure white, and also loves to wear suits to be like dad. Amy got the most at school, because at first she went to the most ordinary educational institution in Washington, and only after some time her parents transferred her to a private boarding house.
