Anyone can offend: 10 films that offend the feelings of the audience

By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/anyone-can-offend-10-films-that-offend-the-feelings-of-the-audience.htmlNews that this or that film offended, insulted, outraged someone comes every day: either the officials of some region will take to heart what movie is known, then - as in the case of "Foxcatcher" - suddenly the hero of the picture will roll hysterical, announcing that he hates the director who made him a fool. The cycle of insults in nature, it seems, does not think to stop. Moreover, recently the pace has suddenly increased: for insulting feelings through art, they now threaten wars and demand bowed repentance, not to mention cases of personal vendetta.
At the same time, cinema has offended feelings throughout its history: offended audiences have been found by the rides of Méliès (too bizarre!) and the adventures of Tarzan (too naked!), the kitsch of Ken Russell (no shame!) and the provocations of Pasolini (no conscience!). To remind you that, in fact, they carry water on the offended, we recall the most absurd of the recent insults inflicted by cinema.

1. Ida (2013)
Leviathan's rival in the Oscar race is not far behind Zvyagintsev in terms of the insults inflicted on the homeland (more precisely, its most sensitive representatives): the local nationalist Anti-Defamation League is already demanding that Pavel Pawlikovsky repent of denigrating Polish history.
2. Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)
Another version of the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm managed to offend the Little People of America association. And not for distorting the images of gnomes, but for their appearance in the film. Director Rupert Sanders used special effects to reduce actors of normal height, thereby depriving midget actors of their jobs.
3. "Borat" (2006)
Sacha Baron Cohen offends someone with each of his films: “Ali G” insulted Eminem, and “Bruno” angered Madonna, they complained about “The Dictator” in Palestine, and the inhabitants of an English town are fighting against filming Cohen’s new work “Grimsby”. All the heroes of Cohen were surpassed, however, by his Borat and Kazakhstan humiliated by him - few films manage to irritate the whole country.
4. Foxcatcher (2014)
The film adaptation of the real tragedy with the participation of champion wrestlers the Schultz brothers and the multimillionaire Dupont is one of the most respectable films of the past year: the Cannes Prize, Oscar nominations, and critical acclaim. The movie, however, was not very appreciated by the most important viewer - Mark Schultz (he is portrayed on the screen by Channing Tatum), who wrote on his Twitter about his hatred of the film and the director. A couple of days later I had to apologize.
5. Social Network (2010)
Mark Zuckerberg could not help but be offended because of his portrait on the big screen - so caustically retold the story of his transformation from a modest Harvard student to Facebook owner David Fincher in The Social Network. Zuckerberg stated that if the film were more realistic, then only the hard work of programmers would have got into the frame. Who would watch such a movie?
6. "50 shades of gray" (2015)
Screen adaptation of E.L. James, who scandalously introduced BDSM to bored women all over the planet, has not yet appeared on the screens, but has already managed to earn a lot of curses. Characteristically, they are opposite in meaning: if the Morality in the Media organization branded the film for promoting sexual violence, then fans of the book suspect it of non-eroticism.
7. American Sniper (2014)
Clint Eastwood's new film tells the story of the deadliest sniper in the history of the US Army and breaks records at the US box office. And if you believe the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, then there are records for the provocation of the Muslim population. The Arabs even asked Eastwood to publicly declare that they are the same Americans as everyone else.
8. Memoirs of a Geisha (2005)
In Japan, they like to complain about Hollywood, which always twists everything. Just give me a reason. But the authors of "Memoirs of a Geisha" set themselves up, recruiting only Chinese women for the roles of Japanese concubines and causing a scandal that thundered even after the film disappeared from the box office.
9. Iron Man 3 (2013)
The most absurd insult was inflicted by an innocent blockbuster with Robert Downey Jr.: the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports of Mongolia, Tsedevdambyn Oyungerel, was offended by Iron Man 3, dissatisfied with the use of the Mongolian script as the language of terrorists. The minister did not pay attention to the fact that the authors of the film involuntarily and almost for the first time since the time of Genghis Khan reminded the world of the existence of Mongolia.
10. "Understudy" (2013)
Resentment at the cinema, whatever it may be, is, first of all, a signal indicating problems with a sense of humor. And in the case of Stas Mikhailov, who sued the creators of "Understudy", also for a misunderstanding of the laws of the comedy genre: the singer demonstrated that he did not know about the existence of parodies as such.
