Polish photographer David Kashlikowski took amazing pictures of a glacier in the Karakoram mountain system in Pakistan from a drone. He visited a unique region as part of the filming of a film for HBO. Kashlikowski spent three weeks at an altitude of five thousand meters.

The photos you will see were taken over the Baltoro and Godwin-Austin glaciers near Chogori, the second highest mountain peak in the world. Kashlikowski says that no one will remove such glaciers anymore — next season they will already change their shape due to melting.

At a certain stage of the route, donkeys and horses, which are used by various expeditions, begin to eat only grain — green meadows are left behind. Not all animals can withstand a grueling journey. Porters leave the bodies of dead animals along the trail.

The porters sleep in their makeshift tents and eat their freshly baked bread. On cold days, they burn garbage to keep warm.

Along the way, we come across the remains of people who died from avalanches and their equipment. Some of them have been lying there for about 50 years.

Families of Balti porters live in traditional houses without heating. In winter, cattle often sleep in their houses — sheep and donkeys.
