To get to this settlement, located at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level, you can only walk. The ascent takes an hour, and due to the inaccessibility of the locals, it is not easy.
The cave is located high in the mountains, and you can only walk here.
About 100 people live here.
Residents raise livestock, as the nearest market is an hour and a half on foot through the mountains.
To make matters worse, the government declared that "China is not a cave people" and closed the village school back in early 2011. Now children have to walk two hours every morning to a different school.
In order to improve living conditions in the village, the elders tried to persuade the local government to build a road and connect the settlement with the existing infrastructure. Although Zhongdong Village has television and sometimes newspapers, it is generally cut off from the rest of the world.
The village even has its own basketball court.
