Self-expression often helps people who have gone through terrible trials in their lives to cope with mental pain. Painting and music are most often used in rehabilitation, but, as it turned out, photography is no worse.

So, the veteran of Afghanistan Chris Nowell not only found an outlet in shooting British landscapes, but also became one of the most interesting photographers of our time in this genre. And this despite the fact that he is almost blind.

Chris Nowell served his country for eight years in the British Army, visited Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan with the regiment. In Afghanistan, Chris was wounded as a result of shelling, suffered serious brain damage, after which he almost completely lost his eyesight.

The life of a wounded soldier was difficult, but thanks to the support of the organization of blind veterans of Great Britain, Chris learned to read and write again. It was at this time that Chris first became interested in photography and began to learn the necessary skills. He was always fascinated by the magnificent landscapes of foggy Albion, but the problem was that he could no longer drive a car.

At first, the wife helped, but she could not be near her husband all the time while he was climbing mountains and fields. Moreover, what for Chris had to be closely monitored — because of problems with his eyes, he did not assess the terrain well and fell into ravines. Then his friend Mark Henson, also a photographer, came to his aid, with whom Chris began to get out on location shooting together.
