7 Most Anticipated Netflix Movies of 2024 (2 Coming in March Already)

Some are coming sooner rather than later, but all are worth the wait!

Streaming giant Netflix truly outdid itself last year, and has continued to hit the mark with its original series and films, with an ever-growing collection of nominations and awards to prove it.

• Whilst 2023 was an exceptional year for Netflix, it seems clear that 2024 will raise the bar even higher, with these upcoming releases to look forward to.

1. Damsel

Coming 8 March

Millie Bobby Brown takes the lead in this fantasy action flick about a young princess who discovers she is not the prince's bride, but rather the latest victim in a string of centuries-old sacrifices by the royal family.

As can be expected, the Stranger Things star is far from a helpless damsel and is ready to fight for her survival from the moment she is thrown into a pit with a blood-hungry dragon. Damsel teases a medieval world of magic and monsters, a thrilling adventure with a brave female heroine at its center.

2. Irish Wish

Coming 15 March

Mean Girls star Lindsey Lohan returns to Netflix for a second time, with another charming romance flick following 2022's Falling for Christmas.

Irish Wish brings elements of fantasy and magic, with Lohan as a bridesmaid, standing by as the love of her life prepares to marry her best friend. Lohan makes a wish to find a true love of her own, but when she wakes up as the bride-to-be, she realizes that her perfect match may not be what or who she expected.

3. Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver

Coming 19 April

If you've watched Part 1, you'll be eagerly waiting for the release of Part 2. And if you haven't seen this action-adventure set in a galaxy far, far away (no, not that one), then the good news is you still have plenty of time to catch up and understand the hype.

When the peaceful farming settlement she calls home is threatened by the violence and greed of the tyrannical ruling forces, Kora is forced to step up against them and recruit a small team of her own to fight. Part 1 ends with a vicious battle and a devastating sacrifice, leaving fans anxiously waiting for the next installment.

4. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F

There's always room for more laughs, and Netflix plans to deliver just that with comedy legend Eddie Murphy reprising his role as Detroit cop Axel Foley nearly 30 years later.

This time, Foley takes on Beverly Hills after his daughter is threatened, working with some old pals and new faces to uncover a deep-rooted conspiracy. Three decades later, Murphy is still as funny as ever, with the film's director revealing that some of the funniest moments come from the actor's brilliant moments of improvisation.

5. The Old Guard 2

The first film about the immortal mercenaries received praise for its exciting, bullet-riddled action sequences and a thrilling storyline as the group embarks on dangerous missions, fights to keep their secret safe, and works to evade those trying to exploit their abilities.

With Charlize Theron reprising her lead role, the plot of the second installment has been kept tightly under wraps, but we do know that there will be at least two new faces and John Wick-style action that will be well worth the wait after fans named the first film one of the best actions on Netflix at the time.

6. The Electric State

In an alternate reality, a teenage girl and her pet robot travel across a dystopian 1997 America, a landscape littered with the remnants of war, searching for her missing brother.

This post-apocalyptic sci-fi brings to life the 2018 graphic novel of the same name, with a star-studded team in front of and behind the camera. With a $200 million budget, Marvel's Russo brothers in the director's seat, and Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt starring, this film has the makings of one of the biggest hits of 2024.

7. A Family Affair

With an interesting plot and a notoriously inconsistent director, the final film on Netflix's 2024 release list has the potential to be a massive hit or miss, and we're hoping it's not the latter.

Much like the previous films on our list, we don't yet know the release date for Richard LaGravenese's A Family Affair, but we do have some info on the plot. The romcom stars Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, and Joey King and follows a young woman working as an assistant to a movie star whose life becomes complicated when her famous boss develops feelings for her mother.
