As a photographer, I spend a lot of time shooting. I also spend a lot of time editing photos and posting them on social media. For what purpose? There are photos meant to be viewed within a 24-hour period. They appear in the social network feed and then are forgotten. And the cycle repeats over and over again.
Do not misunderstand me. I love sharing my work online. But sometimes you need something more material. So why should you print photos? Below are the arguments, accompanied by the work of Brady Cabe.
6 PHOTOS
1. It makes you better select shots.
Yes, photo printing requires some expenses. This includes buying a printer and refilling it (more details here). You can also send your photo to a photo lab for printing. Of course, it's cheaper to put everything on the Internet. However, it is on a printed photo that you begin to notice the smallest details that you did not pay attention to when looking at a monitor or smartphone.
2. You are growing as a photographer.
When printing, you will encounter technical problems with your photos. Sometimes the print reveals light defects that are not visible on the monitor. In addition, you will have to carry out prepress preparation of the frame.
3. Print inspires.
You really start to love the process of choosing photos, doing it more carefully and deliberately. After this, you again want to pick up the camera and shoot.
4. Return to old pictures.
When you have thousands of frames on your computer, you are unlikely to view what was shot five years ago. But with what interest you can look through an album of carefully selected pictures, rediscovering the places where you hit once.
5. The printed photo is for a long time.
Your grandmother probably has an album in which photos are almost a century old. There may be a hard drive and a reliable source, but the good old paper has already stood the test of time.
6. You get satisfaction.
Photo printing is hard work. Filming, selection, preparation, and the printing process itself. The result will give you a sense of satisfaction.
