As with all TV shows based on books or comics, K-dramas based on webtoons can easily be hit or miss, depending on how closely or loosely the writers follow the original plot. The undeniable good thing is that you can always catch up at the end to find out just how wild a ride you're in for.
Here are 5 K-dramas based on webtoons that are worth both watching and reading.

1. Sound of Magic (2022)
Based on the Naver webtoon Annarasumanara by Ha Il-kwon, the show tells the truly whimsical story of a poor schoolgirl Ah-yi, who wants to grow up faster and meets a childlike magician Ri Eul, who makes her believe that there is something magical in every single life, even if her own seems miserable at the time.
2. Our Beloved Summer (2021)
In this case, the webtoon does not follow the plot of the show but focuses on the past. It follows the high school days of the two main characters, Choi Ung and Kook Yeon-soo, who find their way back 10 years after they broke up and promised never to see each other again. Both the drama and the webtoon are beautifully romantic and well worth a watch.
3. Yumi's Cells (2021)
The Naver webtoon for Yumi's Cells has been around since 2015 and will be finished in 2020 with over 500 chapters to read. The show will take much less time to watch but will be just as enjoyable, as you'll be joining office worker Yumi and watching her life through the eyes of the cells in her head.
4. What's Wrong with Secretary Kim (2018)
First, it was a novel. Then it was adapted into a webtoon. Just three years later, the webtoon was turned into a beautiful TV series that explores romance, trauma, and the difficulties of an ever-changing corporate environment. The brilliant performances of Park Seo-Joon and Park Min-young only enhanced the story.
5. Connect (2022)
Based on the webtoon of the same name, this is a thrilling and mysterious story about the human-like being Connect, who was kidnapped by an organ trafficking organization because of his unique self-healing body. He manages to escape, losing an eye in the process, but continues to seek revenge.
