The miniseries A Murder at the End of The World about amateur detective Darby Hart recently wrapped. In a complicated story from the authors of The OA, Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, a young detective investigates the death of a friend in a luxurious hotel.
Marling and Batmanglij are filming truly unique projects, but we managed to pick shows that are not inferior to AMATEOTW in terms of mystery.

1. Awake, 2012
Detective Michael was involved in a car accident with his wife Hannah and son Rex. After the accident, Michael's son survives. However, the next morning, the main character wakes up and is told that his wife survived the accident, but Rex died.
Michael realizes that he has found himself in two parallel realities, in each of which only one member of his family survived. A new day in Michael's life begins with either Hannah or Rex, who is trying to come to terms with the loss of his mother.
In order not to get confused in the realities, Michael wears bracelets of different colors. In each of these worlds, he searches for clues that can shed light on the circumstances of the accident. And yes, to the delight of all the fans of The OA, the lead role was played by Jason Isaacs.
2. Broadchurch, 2013-2017
The show is set in the small English town of Broadchurch. The quiet life of the town is shattered when an 11-year-old boy, Danny, goes missing and is later found dead near a cliff.
Inspector Alec and Sergeant Ellie try to solve the case. Everyone in Broadchurch has something to hide from the police. Their statements often turn out to be false, and their connections are complex and confusing. In 2014, the American adaptation called Gracepoint was released, in which, as in Broadchurch, the detective was played by David Tennant.
3. Memorist, 2020
In this Korean show, talented detective Dong Baek has a supernatural ability: just by touching a person, he can see their memories and understand if they are involved in the crime. Dong decided to become a detective to use his power for good. His partner is Chief Superintendent Han Sun-mi, who became the youngest police officer to hold this rank.
Together, Han Sun-mi and Dong Baek form the perfect duo: she is calm and reserved, and he is impetuous and unpredictable. During the investigation, Baek will have to face the secrets of his past, about which, for some unknown reason, he remembers nothing.
4. Fortitude, 2015-2018
The town of Fortitude lies on the edge of the Arctic and has only 800 residents, four of whom are police officers. In Fortitude, everyone knows everyone, and life is measured and uneventful.
To attract tourists to Fortitude, the governor decides to build an unusual hotel right in the glacier. This initiative is not supported by the environmentalists. The most active opponent, Professor Charlie Stoddart, is soon found murdered. British detective Eugene Morton is brought in to investigate the case and finds that Stoddart's death is only the first in a chain of mysterious crimes.
