The word "hippie" comes from the conversational hip, which means "knowing, understanding". The flourishing subculture peaked in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Crowds of young people with long hair does advocating love for all living beings and to each other, opposed the war and partying at music festivals like no other (which is only one Woodstock).
Although it has long come sunset movement worldwide is still possible to find representatives of this subculture. By the way, some of the ideas which were advanced by hippies, conservative society in the 1970-ies are not taken seriously and were considered as utopian. However, they are firmly entrenched in the mentality of modern man.
