14 photos undeservedly overlooked by history that are worth seeing

Over the past few years, more photos have been taken than in the whole past century, because now the camera seems to be even in the iron. Therefore, quantity does not equal quality, rather the opposite.

We will show amazing photos of the last century, each of which has an interesting story behind it.

The first ever photograph of a person. More precisely, it is a daguerreotype of the Boulevard du The Temple in Paris, which was made by Louis Daguerre, one of the founders of photography, from his window in the spring of 1838. There would have been more people in the photo, but due to the long exposure, Dagher managed to take off only the shoe cleaner and his client.

Indian tattoo on the face of a white woman, 1863. The photo shows Olive Oatman, whose parents were killed in front of her by Indians in 1859, when she was 14 years old. She and her younger sister were taken into slavery, then sold to another Mojave tribe. After five years of living in the tribe, the woman was able to return to American society, but most of what happened in the tribe with the Oatman sisters still remains unknown. For example, a tattoo on Olive's face indicates a good attitude of the Indians, while Oatman believed that she had been tattooed as a slave.

The first known photo with an indecent gesture. Obviously, the photographer did something to annoy baseball player Charles Radbourn, who shows the middle finger.

At the beginning of the XX century, plastic surgery was far from perfect, but there was an alternative: for example, a mask could be made on a disfigured face. One of the experts in this case was the sculptor Anna Colman Ladd. Of course, such a method did not restore the face to its former appearance, but thanks to it, many people who returned from the war were finally able to create families and stopped thinking about suicide.

The tallest person in the history of medical observations. Robert Pershing Wadlow still remains the tallest man in world history according to the Guinness Book of Records. His height was 272 centimeters, weight - 199 kg. Unfortunately, Robert lived only 22 years and died in 1940.

In the 1944 photo, you can see that beer is poured into the tank instead of fuel for the fighter. Of course, the plane was not refueled with beer. Thus, during the Second World War, a foamy drink was delivered to British soldiers who fought in Normandy. And before they thought of pouring beer into fuel tanks, barrels with it were hung from fighters instead of ammunition.

The future Queen Elizabeth II is serving in the army, 1945. During World War II, the Princess served in the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Corps as a mechanic and ambulance driver. In the photo, Elizabeth is holding a watch in her hands — a gift from her colleagues.

Sophia Loren and Jane Mansfield, 1957. In an interview, the Italian diva described the situation in the photo as follows: "Paramount Studio organized a party for me. The whole movie industry was there. And the last to appear is Jane Mansfield. She knew everyone was watching. Where are my eyes? The woman with the thinnest waist in the world, 1957. Briton Ethel Granger decided to make such changes for the sake of her husband William. She wore corsets without taking them off at night, as well as high heels and piercings. Over time, Ethel's waist stretched from 62 cm to 33 cm, which was registered by the Guinness Book of Records.
