10 Most Dangerous Cities in America

On Monday, the FBI released its annual crime statistics for the United States. This year, Chicago, Illinois, was the most dangerous city, surpassing even the country's largest metropolitan area, New York, in terms of the number of murders. Moreover, unlike the Big Apple, the crime rate is growing here. The police attribute this to the redistribution of spheres of influence between African Americans and Hispanics in poor neighborhoods located on the outskirts of the metropolis. The city where dreams come true. Unfortunately, not everyone ... 299 murders and 936 rapes per 3.8 million inhabitants (official).

6. Baltimore, Maryland

Once the port of Baltimore was the second main center of arrival of immigrants in the United States. It is difficult to say whether this fact can leave an imprint on the current state of crime in the city, so here are the dry numbers: 218 murders per 625,000 population.

The ninth most populous city in the US and, unfortunate coincidence, also ninth on our list with 154 homicides per 1.2 million inhabitants.

10. Memphis, Tennessee

The birthplace of the blues, the birthplace of rock and roll and the death of its king, unfortunately, cannot boast of security: 133 murders per 657 thousand people.
