However, what most fans of the anime and manga alike perceive as JJK’s most outstanding quality is the shonen’s riveting action. Few shonen manga could compare to JJK’s stellar battle execution, its fights masterfully balancing exciting spectacle with gritty suspense where each opponent constantly puts their life on the line.
The anime adaptation elevates the action to a new level, featuring some of the best-executed battle sequences in modern shonen history. While the anime has the advantages of dynamic movement and sound design to bring its fights to life, the manga is where the creativity and thrill of JJK’s action originate from. And some of the series’ best fights, including its most iconic showdown, only exist on the pages of Akutami’s original series. With JJK rapidly approaching its conclusion, here are some of the best manga fights that have yet to debut in anime.

1. Yuki and Choso Gave Their All Against Kenjaku
Winner: Kenjaku
Nevertheless, An underrated fight that had lasting consequences on the entire jujutsu society, Yuki and Choso’s attempt to take down Kenjaku was a bloody and horrifying proof of the ancient sorcerer is power. Facing one of the only four special-grade sorcerers and an incarnated cursed object with extraordinary blood manipulation skills, Kenjaku still overpowered their joint efforts with relative ease.
For Yuki - a character fans have been curious about for a while - this fight was the first and last showcasing of her formidable abilities. Yet, more important than the spectacle of seeing three exceptional sorcerers from different eras go all out was the emotional development Choso underwent during this clash. With her final sacrifice, Yuki gives Choso the strength to leave as a human instead of a curse.
2. Maki’s Rampage Through the Zenin Clan Was an Emotive Spectacle of Rightful Rage
Winner: Maki Zenin
Born with insufficient cursed energy into a prejudiced and hostile clan, Mai and Maki Zenin endured a difficult childhood of ridicule and neglect. However, Maki’s inability to use cursed techniques - or even see curses - didn’t deter her from becoming a formidable sorcerer. This strength, accumulated through vigorous training, Maki used to get back at her clan for all the suffering it caused her and Mai.
A merciless one-sided execution, Maki’s charge through the Zenin clan’s headquarters left no man standing. Yet, the last precious thing Maki had to lose to her family was the life of her sister, with Mai sacrificing her life to strengthen Maki’s Heavenly Restricted body and power her to fulfill their shared dream of destroying the Zenin clan.
3. Kirara’s Fight Against Megumi and Panda Showcases One of the Series’ Most Unorthodox Techniques
Winners: Panda and Megumi Fushiguro
As a power system, cursed energy manipulation stands out due to its versatility and uniqueness of implementation. As such, some of the best techniques in JJK focus not on conventional physical strength but center around unorthodox concepts and clever uses of cursed energy. One such technique is Kirara Hoshi’s Love Rendezvous, an astronomy-based ability they demonstrate during their fight against Panda and Megumi.
A challenging technique to crack, Love Rendezvous gives the sorcerers a hard time while they struggle to comprehend how it works. While Megumi ultimately realizes Kirara’s secret, which helps him get the upper hand, the battle itself plays out as a thrilling mystery where the victor is determined through cleverness instead of strength.
4. Megumi Outsmarts an Ancient Sorcerer in His Battle Against Reggie Star
Winner: Megumi Fushiguro
Of all the Jujutsu High first-years, Megumi Fushiguro possesses not only the most formidable inherited technique but also one of the sharpest strategic minds. And no fight demonstrates Megumi’s cleverness better than his showdown with Reggie Star. A tense and witty encounter, the clash is made even more interesting by Reggie’s unorthodox ability, Contract Re-Creation.
By extinguishing physical proof of a transaction - such as a receipt - with cursed energy, Reggie can manifest various objects and concepts into reality, from cars and knives to abstractions like spa treatments. However, Reggie’s overconfident attitude prevents him from getting the upper hand against the young sorcerer, as Megumi takes the incarnation out with a smart surprise attack.
5. Takaba Defeats Kenjaku in the Most Hilarious Way Imaginable
Winner: Fumihiko Takaba
In a series as dark and solemn as Jujutsu Kaisen, Fumihiko Takaba has always stood out like a sore thumb. However, against all odds, this joke character with a ridiculous reality-bending power was the one to take down JJK’s second most dangerous antagonist - the formidable ancient sorcerer Kenjaku.
Takaba’s showdown against Kenjaku is a celebration of JJK’s rarely acknowledged goofy side, filled to the brim with absurd comical violence and surreal skits one would never expect to see in a grave death match. Nevertheless, Kenjaku regarded this whimsical fight as one of the hardest he ever had to endure, getting so caught up in trying to stand his ground against Takaba that he left himself open to Yuta’s lethal sneak attack.
6. Yuji Vs. Higuruma Is an Unconventional Battle with a Poignant Emotional Core
Winner: Yuji Itadori
One of the most unique fights in JJK, the clash between Yuji and the awakened sorcerer Hiromi Higuruma inventively analyzes both characters’ psyches through the lens of a tense deathmatch. As a former attorney, Higuruma possesses a technique that reflects his past in the justice system - a domain expansion that allows Higuruma’s shikigami, Judgeman, to assess the crimes committed by the technique’s target.
For Yuji, his encounter was a gruesome reminder of the horrors Sukuna had perpetrated while in control of their shared body during the Shibuya Incident. At the same time, meeting Yuji reminds Higuruma of his past convictions as a protector of the innocent, and the sorcerer changes from an enemy to an ally in the aftermath of their fight.
7. Yuta Demonstrates His Overwhelming Strength Against Takako Uro and Ryu Ishigori
Winner: Yuta Okkotsu
Yuta’s reappearance at the end of the Shibuya Incident got fans thrilled to see how much the young sorcerer has grown during his off-screen training in Africa. Thankfully, the reveal of Yuta’s new, improved abilities did not disappoint. Yuta’s obliteration of the Sendai Colony’s strongest incarnated sorcerers, Takako Uro, and Ryu Ishigori, is an ecstatic demonstration of overwhelming strength and strategic competence that earned Yuta a spot among the special grades.
Having to face two opponents at once, Yuta doesn’t claim his victory without a significant effort. From a three-way domain clash to a stunning manifestation of Rika at full power, this fight is packed with some of the most stirring moments of strife in the entire series.
8. Hakari Vs. Kashimo Is JJK’s Explosive Action at Its Most Entertaining
Winner: Kinji Hakari
When it comes to generating excitement, the battles featuring Kinji Hakari always stand out due to the eclectic, forceful energy the sorcerer brings into every encounter. And, when matched with an equally eccentric opponent such as Kashimo, Hakari can fully unleash his wild side and gamble his life away in battle.
Kashimo and Hakari’s death match is widely regarded as one of the Culling Game arc’s highlights - and rightfully so. From Kashimo showcasing the deadly intensity of his electric cursed energy to Hakari using his unkillable mode to turn the fight around, this clash is filled to the brim with iconic moments fans can’t wait to see brought to life in the anime.
9. The Final Raid Against Sukuna Is a Spectacle of Unprecedented Scale
Winner: Yuji Itadori
The final act of the Shinjuku Showdown and the biggest clash in JJK’s extensive history, the raid against Sukuna saw all of the remaining sorcerers join forces to end the Kind of Curses once and for all. The lengthy battle is a thrilling sequence of euphoric highs and devastating lows, which, during the arc’s serialization, many saw as a detriment due to the fight’s somewhat repetitive formula.
However, when put into perspective, the Sukuna raid is outstandingly dynamic. Even when facing the collective onslaught of some of the best sorcerers featured in the series, Sukuna barely gave up his advantage throughout the battle. As such, JJK's showdown was one of the only shonen battles where the heroes’ victory wasn’t an obvious guarantee and, instead, was hard-earned and rewarding as a result.
10. Gojo Vs. Sukuna Had the Entire Manga Community Glued to Their Seats
Winner: Sukuna
The anticipated battle of the strongest foreshadowed ever since the characters first clashed in the series’ opening chapters, Gojo vs. Sukuna will go down as one of the best fights in shonen history. The intense act that opened JJK’s final phase, this confrontation had both opponents go all out, to the delight and apprehension of the readers.
The Shinjuku Showdown was the first time the readers saw either of the strongest fight in earnest, finally matched with an equal opponent. As such, the outcome of this legendary clash was impossible to determine, making the fight that much more thrilling. However, Gojo's ultimate defeat still managed to shock the entire reader base, the death of the beloved hero causing an uproar on a scale the anime community has never experienced before.
