Woman saves dying Nigerian toddler who was kicked out by his own parents

A heartbreaking photo of a charity worker giving a emaciated toddler a drink has gone viral. The photo was taken in January, when Dane Anja Ringgen Loven met an emaciated two-year-old boy without clothes on the street, who at that time had been on the street for eight months. The child was abandoned by his own family, as they considered him a sorcerer, and, unfortunately, this is far from a rare case in Africa. The kid was tormented by hunger, thirst and illness for an unknown amount of time. Anya immediately fed and watered the child, wrapped him in a blanket and took him to the nearest hospital.

Anja Ringgen Lowen lives in Africa with her family and is the founder of the African Children's Learning and Development Fund, which she created three years ago to save just such children.

Now the condition of the boy, who was named Hope (translated from English as “hope”), is stable, he can already sit down on his own, play with the little son of his savior, and most importantly, smile after all that he had to endure.

Anya and her husband help just such children, who are rejected by African society because they consider them sorcerers, and therefore dangerous to people. Such children are tortured, tormented and intimidated.
