Turkish artist Nur Gürel, living in Istanbul, for his project "flirting with the proportions" whole uses layers of paint to transform skinny models on the covers of popular magazines in women the most likely sizes, and sometimes owners of an awkward overweight.
Obviously, Gürel making a mockery of the unattainable standards of beauty, but it's not just that. The artist hopes to initiate a dialogue about body image and how we operated in the continuously treated photo editors images. Only now people are taking photoshopped pictures with the ideal model at face value, and figures of Nur Gürel look with disgust.
