Tomato and cucumber salad is dangerous for health and it's not about nitrates at all
Vegetables are an excellent source of vitamins and trace elements. But the combination of some of their types can carry a danger to the human body. The typical summer salad of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, beloved by millions, is a clear example of an unsuccessful combination of useful gifts of the fields.
Nutritionists do not recommend leaning on salads that contain cucumbers and tomatoes, so as not to damage your body. If we consider vegetables separately, they are useful, especially if they are grown without the use of chemical fertilizers.
A ripe tomato of medium size contains up to a third of the daily needs of an adult in vitamin C. And in addition, these vegetables contain lycopene — a substance that helps the body fight cancer cells and cardiovascular diseases.
Cucumbers, from the point of view of benefits, look more modest, since they contain too much water. But if you eat them without peeling them, we will get B vitamins that help fight cholesterol, fiber, and a number of useful trace elements.
But if you combine these two useful products, for example, in a salad, then everything will be different. Ascorbinase, contained in cucumbers, breaks down vitamin C from tomatoes, depriving it of useful qualities for the body. But this, unfortunately, is not all the troubles that await lovers of vegetable salads.
But this does not mean that you need to give up cucumbers and tomatoes or make a difficult choice, leaving only one of the vegetables in the diet. You can continue to enjoy the fruits of the fields, but try not to let them meet each other in your stomach.
