The hairiest family in the world
Meet 38-year-old Mexican Chui and his relatives. All of them suffer from a rare disease - congenital hypertrichosis, that is, excessive facial hair. Recently, a film was made about an amazing family called "Chui the Wolfman."
Jesus "Chui" Aceves was born in 1974 in Loreto, Mexico. His sister Lilia and cousins Danny and Larry were born with the same disease. Nobody wanted to rent them out, so the mayor of Loreto gave the unfortunate family two houses - they still live there.
Chewie and his cousins started working in the circus at a young age - they were shown to the public as freaks. During the day, the brothers were not allowed out of the vans - the circus owners said that no one would pay for the show if hairy people could just be seen on the street.
Chuuya has three daughters from different women, all of whom were also born with hypertrichosis. Chuuya's great-grandmother was the first in her family to have the condition, and since then 30 family members have been diagnosed. Only 50 cases of hypertrichosis have been recorded in history, and 30 of them are in the Aceves family.
Chewie's daughter is bullied and teased at school. Chuuya's wife trims the girl's facial hair with a trimmer, but the hair is still visible on her forehead and chin.
