The destroyer of the church or a potential saint? Why do they want to canonize Lenin in Russia
Lenin is already so out of trend today that no one is celebrating his next birthday. The leader of the world proletariat is remembered only when someone once again offers to take him out of the mausoleum and bury him. Immediately there are debates that divide citizens into two camps. After a while, everything ends in nothing and goes quiet until the next time. But Lenin, like no one else, deserves to be canonized and solemnly buried in St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg.
For some reason, everyone considers Vladimir Ilyich an irreconcilable enemy of the church and even attributes to him the authorship of the "genocide of the clergy". They started talking about it in the 90s and the goal was mainly to demonize Lenin and the Soviet government in general. But this does not correspond to reality, since it was Lenin who preserved the church in the Soviet country, did not let it perish in the flames of the revolution.

Supporters of the "church genocide" version usually cite Instruction No. 13666/2, which Lenin and Kalinin allegedly handed over to Dzerzhinsky on May 1, 1919.
This document, published by the press in the 90s, became a real sensation and forced historians to rush to the archives to find the original. But they were disappointed, because in the document flow of those years, such a word as "instruction" did not appear at all. In addition, Kalinin was absent from Petrograd from the end of April until mid-May, as he was in Kiev at that time.
Contemporaries note that, on the contrary, spiritual life in Russia flourished until the end of the 20s. Foreigners who visited the young Soviet republic noted that many buildings were in disrepair, but not temples. Lenin 's quote from a speech on November 19 , 198 is known:
Isn't the person who defended the church at the most dangerous moment for her and wanted to make millions of people happy all over the world worthy of canonization? This question is very difficult, but if it is raised, it will be quite easy to find refutations to speculation about Lenin's persecution of the clergy.
Canonization will help to reconcile people, spiritually connect the epochs and, finally, to stop the decades-long disputes about the removal of his body from the Mausoleum. People will be sympathetic to the transfer of the body from Red Square to St. Isaac's Cathedral, which was not chosen by chance at all.
This St. Petersburg temple has not been transferred to the church and officially has the status of a museum. So placing a baptized atheist under its arches will not cause anyone any negative emotions. Moreover, this atheist has done more for the church than other believers.

The date of burial should not be chosen randomly, but timed to coincide with some important event related to the personality of Vladimir Ilyich, for example, the centenary of his death, which will fall in 2024. This day can be dedicated to the unity of whites and reds, communists and democrats, who are still children of Holy Russia.
