The 21-year-old girl visited 196 countries and got into the Guinness Book of Records
American Lexie Alford (Lexie Alford) lives a really exciting life. Having reached the tender age of 21, the girl managed to visit 196 countries of the world, that is, in all! For this achievement, Alford was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the youngest person in history to have traveled the entire planet.
Read about how she managed to achieve this and what Lexi Alford is going to do next in our material.
On May 31, 2019, a 21-year-old American woman Lexi Alford arrived in North Korea, thereby becoming the youngest traveler to visit all countries of the world.
Now the girl is providing the organization with the remaining evidence of her movements, and official confirmation of her record is expected in the near future.
Unknowingly, the young record holder has been working on her achievement since childhood. Her parents are the owners of a travel agency. Therefore, according to Alford, for as long as she can remember, traveling has been an integral part of her life.
As a baby , Alford, along with her mom and dad , managed to visit many exotic places ranging from Ushuaia in Argentina, ending with the floating villages of Cambodia.
By her 18th birthday, Lexi realized that she had already been to 72 countries of the world, and this is almost half of the world record.
Then the girl set herself a goal - to visit all countries of the world. And after three years I was able to implement it.
The last country on Alford's list was North Korea, but it was not so easy to get into its territory.
Since visiting the DPRK by Americans is strictly prohibited, the girl had to go to a trick. In the Guinness Book of Records, she discovered a curious rule according to which a visit to Panmunjom (a place in the Joint Security Zone between North and South Korea) is equivalent to a visit to the DPRK.
Also, according to the girl, there were some difficulties with her movements in Africa. Safe transport is incredibly expensive here. Taking advantage of the fact that this is the only option to get from point "A" to point "B" without risking their lives, the locals set absolutely sky-high prices for tourists.
Since Lexi pays for all her trips herself, the issue of saving is acute for her. That is why the traveler practically does not use mobile communication while in other countries, stays overnight in hostels and inexpensive hotels, and if possible changes the advertising of the institution in her Instagram account for its free services.
The girl admits that she signed several contracts that helped her finance the project, but she never had an official sponsor.
In California, Lexi lives with her parents, which also helps her save. When traveling, the girl remotely works as a consultant for their family travel agency.
The American is also engaged in photography and blogging. All this helps her to earn income, which is enough for budget travel around the world.
On her Instagram page, the girl shares tips on how to build routes across countries, save on communications, housing, tickets, but at the same time relax no worse than business class representatives.
Lexi brings a lot of amazing photos from every country.
The American woman tries to choose the most interesting places for visits, for example, in Ukraine she visited Chernobyl.
It took weeks, and sometimes months, for the girl to get acquainted with each country. But there were also those countries in which Lexi could not or did not want to stay for a long time.
South Sudan, Somalia, CAR, Mali, Chad and Papua New Guinea are the few states in which she spent only 2-3 days, because the budget did not allow her to stay here longer and not put herself at risk.
Now the beauty is writing a book about her life and the experience she had to go through. The girl also plans to start public speaking — her first TEDx talk will be held on June 15.
