In Greece, beauty contests have been held since 1929. Moreover, holding such a competition was considered a matter of national scale: the audience included not only the entire secular metropolitan and provincial society, but also members of the government, the Prime Minister and members of the royal family with courtiers. Every day of the contest was discussed and commented on in the central press, the pages of which were full of photos of girls.

The winner of the contest in 1930, Aliki Diplaraku, was born into the family of a famous lawyer and received a brilliant education: the future Miss Europe spoke completely fluently in four languages. This fact will play a huge role: Aliki Diplaraku, world—famous for her beauty and the honorary titles awarded to her by the European seal — Spartan, Athenian and Greek with a capital letter - traveled all over the world, lecturing about Ancient Greece and Greek culture, promoting her homeland and inviting her interlocutors to visit the land where the European was born civilization.
