Russian gas magnate Farhad Akhmedov will have to pay his ex-wife Tatiana 453 million pounds (about 48.4 billion rubles) after a long legal battle. The woman obtained a court decision in her favor, providing evidence that the ex-husband and their eldest son Timur hid the real amount of their fortune.
The divorce process, which began five years ago, has become the most expensive in the history of the UK. Tatyana Akhmedova said that 27-year-old Timur helped his father hide the truthful information about the assets and owed her 70 million pounds (about 7.5 billion rubles). The young businessman says that his mother's accusations against him should be dismissed. Nevertheless, the evidence given by Tatiana convinced the judge of her rightness.
Judge Gwyneth Knowles says the Akhmedovs ' divorce was one of the saddest of her career. During the marriage, the couple lived a luxurious life in Surrey in a luxury mansion, worth 39 million pounds (about 4.2 billion rubles). The tycoon's fortune is estimated at 900 million pounds (about 96 billion rubles).
Farhad Akhmedov accuses his ex-wife and her assistants of seeking out information about his income. He says that after unsuccessful attempts to find something against him, Tatiana made a victim of their eldest son, and does not agree with the decision of the High Court in London.
The billionaire claims that he is clean before the law and did not intend to hide anything. The representative of Timur said that the young man only wanted to end the war between the parents, but was involved in the lawsuit. Despite the decision not in his favor, the businessman's son will be happy if these payments will stop the dispute between the father and mother.
The oligarch challenged the court's decision, arguing that he and his ex-wife are not British and did not marry in the UK, so a British judge cannot rule on their case.
At the last court hearing, Tatiana provided evidence that her ex-husband hid the superyacht "Luna", worth 340 million pounds (about 36.3 billion rubles) and an art collection worth 110 million pounds (about 11.7 billion rubles) in his trusts in Liechtenstein.
Tatiana says that since the beginning of the divorce process in 2016, the ex-husband constantly lied and turned her eldest son against her. However, she is confident that she will be able to establish a relationship with Timur, no matter what. The Russian woman accuses her ex-husband of misconduct and dishonest legal manipulations.
After the verdict, the judge quoted Tolstoy and called the Akhmedov family "one of the most unhappy." Tatiana herself says that no amount of money will compensate for the emotional trauma caused to her and her children. She is going to protect her family in the future.
Meanwhile, another high-profile divorce case between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie continues. The actress asks to change the judge, suspecting him in connection with the side of the former spouse.
