Mickey Mouse is over: how the richest Chinese declared war on Disney
Last week, in Nanchang (southeast China), a themed Wanda park opened its doors to visitors, the construction of which was financed by the richest man in China, billionaire Wang Jianlin. Wang claims that his plans include not just to compete with Disneyland under construction in Shanghai (the cost of which is approximately 5.5 billion dollars), but also to leave Americans with a nose: by 2020, it is planned to open 20 similar amusement parks throughout China.
"We convincingly declare that Disney will not be able to make any profit in this sector of the economy in the next 10-20 years," Wang Jianlin said at the opening of the Wanda Park last week. Meanwhile, representatives of the Disney company have already expressed outrage at the fact that people in Captain America and Snow White costumes were seen loitering among the guests in the park.

For those 10 million guests who are expected to become visitors to the park, Wanda Group has opened 50 restaurants and 9 hotels (of which, however, only five are now functioning). The project cost the company $ 3.4 billion, which is significantly less than the cost of creating Disneyland in Shanghai, but nevertheless, Disney seems to be seriously shaken by the scale of its competitor's activities.
