An online source in law enforcement agencies reported that the singer hanged himself in a private residence in the suburbs of Los Angeles. His body was found on Thursday morning. Chester was the father of six children. He was 41 years old.
The singer struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for many years. Earlier, he stated that he was visited by thoughts of suicide.
Bennington was close to Soundgarden lead singer Chris Cornell, who was born on July 20. Cornell committed suicide in May of this year.
This year, the band released the album One More Light, and on the morning of July 20, the presentation of the video for the song Talking to Myself took place.
The musician's death was confirmed on his Twitter account by his colleague Mike Shinoda.
