Green tram tracks in Europe
In some European cities, you can see an outlandish picture: a real tram rides along the strips of a neat lawn! And this is not shooting a fantastic film about a bright future, and not a sick fantasy of some amateur Photoshop. Modern technologies really allow us to make the transport system such that when you look at it, you feel a sense of pride.
The greening of tram tracks in Europe began in the 1980s.
The residents of the cities immediately felt the practical effect of the implementation of such a decision. It has become less hot, dusty and noisy in cities, and the volume of storm sewage has significantly decreased.

In addition, the additional territories of the city occupied by lawns had a positive impact on the biodiversity of the urban environment, since green grass is the habitat of some insect species.

Landscaping performs several functions – drainage of stormwater, noise absorption, reduction of environmental pollution.
Green roads have become widespread in such cities as Barcelona, Frankfurt, Milan, Saint-Etienne, Strasbourg and Warsaw.

It is difficult not to agree with the opinion expressed in one of the issues of the Monocle magazine: "There is something magical in watching the trams in Barcelona, Strasbourg or Frankfurt glide quietly over the grass strips. In those places where it is possible, it is worth taking this attractive combination of rational public transport with soulful landscape architecture as a standard when planning urban development."
