First breath: Australia announced the best photographers who filmed childbirth
The Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) named the names of the best photographers who captured childbirth in their pictures. These masters of their craft give strength to women in labor, being on the opposite side of the lens. Their works capture the genuine, pure emotions of the first moments of the kids' life: tears, joy and a sense of liberation.

They not only support mothers giving birth, but also provoke the beginning of a discussion about the process of having children. They challenge the preconceptions that childbirth is something scary.
The first place was taken by Selena Rollason. She started photographing childbirth after she gave birth to her third child. Then the birth process was captured in pictures. "Those photos helped me remember the positive side of this process. Of course, it must be said that childbirth is an emotionally and physically very difficult process, but do not forget about the feeling of joy that you experience when you give birth to a child," Selena said.

The second place was taken by 37-year-old Victoria Berekmeri from Adelaide (South Australia). She began to master the basics of photography as a teenager, and in 2010 decided to do it professionally. "I believe that photos of childbirth help women. They play the role of a kind of educational program for society, telling about what childbirth really is. These photos help women make the right decisions and ask the right questions," Victoria believes.
"I think that the benefits that a demonstration of what childbirth really is can bring to society are potentially much more tangible and significant than the minor grievances that some people may have," says Victoria Berekmeri.
Queensland photographer Rana Rankin took third place. "I see the process of birth as something mysterious, sacred, very personal. Permission to attend the birth is a great honor for me," Rana shared.
