Fantastic luminous waves from a Russian marine artist of the XIX century

Categories: Culture |

Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky loved to draw the sea. He was born in the Crimea, in the port city of Feodosia. The Russian-Armenian artist was crazy about the sea waves — he painted them extremely realistic and as if illuminated from below.

During his life, Aivazovsky painted more than six thousand canvases, half of them were dedicated to the sea and ships.
