Everyday life of the Dinka people of Africa: women who do not recognize clothes, defeated cancer and buffaloes
There are not many places left in the world where people live in harmony with nature and preserve an original way of life carried through millennia. One of the peoples fighting hard for their uniqueness is the Dinka tribe, living in South Sudan and surprising researchers and tourists with their appearance and ability to live in harmony with their harsh land. (Careful! Nude).
The Dinka tribe can be called very conditionally — it is rather a group of tribes of one people, numbering about 3 million people. Dinka is one of the Nilotic peoples who preserved the primitive communal system and pagan beliefs of their ancestors based on the worship of the forces of nature and totemic animals.
Dinka representatives are tall and slender, and their women are very attractive and do not recognize clothes and cosmetics. For young girls of this people, the lack of clothes is a sign of innocence and that they are waiting for their grooms.
But even after getting married, the representatives of the tribe do not abuse clothes — their wardrobe is complemented by a small apron made of goat's wool, which they wear on special occasions. But they do not save on beaded jewelry here — this people has no equal in creating necklaces, necklaces and pendants.
A vital role for the Dinka is played by huge herds of buffaloes, which they have grazed on the plains of South Sudan since time immemorial. Neighboring tribes sometimes call this tribe "horned", so closely is their life connected with large domesticated artiodactyls.
Dinka people grow up near their buffaloes and live with them in complete harmony. Buffaloes provide their owners with everything necessary for life, from nutrients to medicines. Scientists have found that thanks to the linoleic acid contained in the harsh meat of these animals, the people of the tribe almost do not face cancer.
Photographers Carol Beckwith and Angela Fischer, who have devoted more than 30 years of their lives to the study of the little-studied tribes of the African continent, have created a magnificent series of pictures from Dinka's daily life.
