A pair of kidneys for two: an Italian married a nurse who saved his life
An incredible love story unfolded in Italy. Giacomo Schinasi and Cinzia Straquadani were married in Pisa. The bride and groom were united not only by feeling. Three years ago, a woman working as a nurse donated a kidney to her lover. Its compatibility with the patient's body turned out to be 99%.

The secretary of the local Jewish community Giacomo Skinasi and nurse Cinzia Strakuadani met in 2013. Strakuadani worked as a procedural nurse in the dialysis department of the city hospital, where Skinazi was being treated for acute kidney failure. The girl put him on ivs, and although the procedures were carried out only three times a week, these rare meetings were enough to create sympathy between people.
Soon the nurse found out that the drug treatment was ineffective — the patient who interested her needed a kidney transplant, and immediately. Obeying an inner voice, Skinazi passed tests, and it turned out that tissue compatibility with the patient was almost 100%. Without thinking twice, the nurse decided to become a donor.
The operation took place in July 2014. By this point, the donor and recipient were no longer just acquaintances. Feelings arose between them. However, before thinking about the family, Giacomo needed to restore his lost health. The process turned out to be slow, since a year later the Skinazi's body began to reject the foreign body. But in the end everything ended well, and the lovers got married. The celebration took place last weekend.

The bride fondly recalls the period when she took care of her now husband, how she tried to support him during a difficult period for him.
Such a case is not the only one in Italy. A year ago, the Italian, who was 52 at the time, broke up with his own kidney for the sake of his 44-year-old girlfriend. It was his gift to her on March 8th.
