A new trend in photography: the Germans discovered the pose of a gopnik and called it "Russian squats"
Recently, a pose that vaguely resembles a visit to the toilet in one of the Vietnamese hostels has literally swallowed up German social networks. Pushing into the background the hated "duckface" and "fish yawn", "Russian squats" began to win not only the attention of Instagram users, but also the creative class.

At the same time, the question “Where is it fashionable to squat?” it doesn't matter - a staircase, a museum porch, a sidewalk will do. And if you are Beyoncé, then you can generally sit on a police car.

Why is everyone sitting down?
Apparently, the European Internet in 2016 will be covered by a “squat wave”, because now the pose is considered quite aesthetic. In his essay "The Rule of the Ideal" on commercial wedding photography, research designer Charles Lewis writes: "The natural pose, which may occur quite by accident outside of the shooting process, can be standardized if it becomes massively popular with photographers."
Before a meme (in our case, “Russian squats”) gains mass popularity, it is adopted by a certain narrow circle that understands non-verbal code, and is actively used in this environment. The culmination of popularity is reached when the innovation becomes mainstream - from that point on, popularity only declines.
