19-year-old Kyrgyz woman sang in a bra: the girl is threatened with reprisals for "shaming the country"
A young Kyrgyz singer Zere Asylbek has released a new video for the song "Kyz". In the video, she appeared in front of the audience in a rather bold image. The girl pursued the goal of proving to her fellow countrymen that all people are equal and have the right to look the way they want. As a result, she faced a wave of discontent, criticism and even threats.
Zere Asylbek's clip for the song "Kyz", which means "Girl" in Kyrgyz, literally blew up local social networks. The image in which the singer appeared in front of the public caused shock among her fellow countrymen.
In the video, the girl is wearing a black jacket over a lace bodice that barely hides her breasts. With her outfit and song, Zere wanted to convey to the audience that girls can look the way they want, and prohibitions in this case are inappropriate.
Besides her, girls in traditional Kyrgyz dresses, hijabs, shorts, short T-shirts and even swimsuits appeared in the video.
Most of Zere's compatriots reacted negatively to the video. Many called the girl a "disgrace to the country" and advised her to hide under a hijab.
It is known that Zera even began to receive threats, in connection with which the singer filed an application with law enforcement agencies. An anonymous user sent a message to the girl on Instagram, in which he promised to kill her if Zere "does not ask for forgiveness from the Kyrgyz people."
Another commentator said that he would "gladly join" this action and "cut off the head" of the 19-year-old actress.
Felix Kulov, the former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, came to her defense. According to him, Zere was only trying to demonstrate her civic position by her act. The politician believes that the clip would be perceived quite differently if girls with parameters 90-60-90 appeared in it.
