The history of the confrontation between the guards and the tailed ones dates back to the summer of 2016. Then a photo exhibition of pets was held in Onomichi. On one of the days of the exhibition, an unknown black cat approached the entrance to the museum, but he was delicately deployed at the second door.

Over the past two years, cats have repeatedly appeared on the threshold of the museum. According to the guard, the animals, which were named Ken Chan and Gou Chan (in translation it literally sounds like a "black" and "red" cat), come several times a week.

They calmly head to the entrance to the museum, where security is already waiting for them. To be fair, both sides adhere to etiquette in this "war". The guards do not try to throw the cats out into the street — instead, the animals are patiently turned around and wait for them to leave, which they do every time.

Since 2017, the museum has been selling souvenirs in honor of the "tailed bandits". After getting acquainted with the exhibits, visitors can relax in a themed cafe, where there were also images of cats. Many commentators on Twitter joke that the violators of the order cannot even appreciate everything that was done in their honor, because they are not allowed.

The photo clearly shows that the cats are well-groomed, and Ken Chan is sporting a fashionable bow tie. Most likely, the animals are pets. But what attracts them to the museum? This mystery has not yet been solved.
