Moxihatetima is one of the three Yanomamo Indian groups in this area. She is being monitored remotely for fear of attacks by illegal gold miners who regularly encroach on the territory of the Indians. In 1993, 16 Yanamamo were killed by gold miners, in response to which the Indians killed two people. In addition to violence, people bring diseases to which yanamamo has no immunity.
