We often talk about fashion, how it changes, what new items appear and what old traditions are coming back again. But was this fashion in the Soviet space? And how did our moms and dads dress?
This selection of photos will show in detail how the same Soviet fashion looked.
And these are young people. Simple guys, not from the dudes.
This is how a typical clean-up day looked like. Very modest — rubber boots, comfortable trousers and sweatshirts.
A small event. A la dressy kind of clothes…
First-year meeting before the start of the academic year. Mostly jackets and shirts or turtlenecks.
A typical form of clothing for the Russian winter (most in the photo) is a winter jacket with a faux fur collar and a shapeless hat with earflaps.
Another example of clothing for the cold season. A very popular plaid coat (on the left) was wanted by everyone in the 70s.
Photos of the participants of the demonstration on November 7! Everyone is in solemn, festive clothes. This is how it looked like what was considered the best among the youth of the 70-80's.
Another group of young girls and boys during an event. Most likely, it's just a general gathering for the guitar, but the clothes smell of longing. The girl's raincoat in the center was considered very fashionable in those days.
The summer fashion of those times was distinguished by panama hats of indeterminate shape. A girl in a light fashionable shirt with sunglasses stands out from the total mass in the photo.
Cleaning day. This was how the work clothes that were in every house looked in case of a clean-up or "potatoes".
Picnic. No, this is not really a fashionable tourist party or kebabs with tents. Most likely, these guys are resting after the very potatoes that students and young specialists were voluntarily and forcibly sent to. The clothes match the occasion.
Potato. And an integral part of it is a padded jacket.
The continuation of the potato theme is a wonderful half on vacation in between harvesting. And again we see padded jackets, strange jumpers with an unreal pattern and, of course, scarves.
Construction team. Apparently — also after potatoes.
Still the same picture. Pay attention to the thick military belt of the guy in the center. This belt with a heavy buckle was most often inherited from fathers.
Fashionable guys at the recreation center. They also wore the best there. At that time, flared trousers (on the left) and Soviet sneakers (also on the left) and unreal coloring polo shirts (on the right) were very fashionable.
Tourslet. A typical Soviet-era tracksuit. And even a black-and-white photo cannot interrupt its bright blue color in the imagination.
The following photos speak a little not about the fashion that it would be worth writing about now, but we will leave them for color. So, two photos from a typical student get-together. So to speak, they think for three.
On the table, all the most valuable items are displayed with labels and front sides forward. We look at what the students are bragging about: a terrible receiver, empty bottles of imported port and a pack of cigarettes…
Picnic. This photo is not as old as the previous ones. This is indicated by the imported swimsuit on the girl who is standing. While her two friends are wearing typical underpants (otherwise it just can't be called) from Soviet swimsuits. In principle, swimsuits with shorts or tankini are also in fashion now, but the colors betray the times…
