16 Women Demonstrating Amazing Body Modifications

Body modifications - bodymod - include many variations: from piercings and tattoos to implants and injections. Photographer Roger Kisby presents a series of shots showing women proud of their stunning body mods.

Early in the summer, Roger Kisby was just strolling around Las Vegas when he stumbled upon an event organized by the Association of Professional Piercers - a conference of masters and an exhibition of work. Though Kisby himself has no tattoos or piercings, he couldn't resist capturing beauty in various guises.

According to Kisby, he approached the participants of the convention and asked if they could be photographed. “People were friendly and open about it,” he says. Many of them turned out to be workers in the field of body modification - for example, tattoo or piercing parlors.

“I always like it when people are not afraid to be themselves,” Kisby says. “Especially when such people, who in real life are forced to face various prejudices, get together. I feel an extraordinary warmth when I see how they rejoice that they are not alone.

Kisby took pains to capture attendees with a wide variety of tattoos, piercings, and other modifications to show that the conference did not have the same type of people or the same styles. “I wanted to make sure I could show each unique person in their own way,” he says.

“The point of this project was not to point the finger at people and say, 'Look at these weirdos,'” says Kisby. “My goal was to demonstrate that people who get pierced are really passionate about it.”
