You can’t tell the team that today she is not in the mood and is not ready to experiment - from this moment her career will be forever over. Girls from the fashion world have to put up with restrictions and difficulties.
Famous models told what the underside of their industry looks like. Almost every girl on the catwalk dreams of a dream, a delicious lunch, and at least a day without washing her hair. And these are not all the tests that the world's beauties cannot avoid.
10 PHOTOS
1. Can't go to the bathroom at the casting
Under no circumstances will the models who come to the casting go to the restroom - even if they have critical days. Model Victoria Kane said that if she was absent for at least a minute, a girl could lose her place in the queue. Competitors will not allow her to return to her place and will be sent to the very end.
2. They go to the podium without underwear
During the shows, the model will have to give up underwear, because translucent seams and straps can ruin the look of a designer outfit. And sometimes the absence of underwear is a “fashion move”: Bella Hadid, for example, at the Coperni show as part of Paris Fashion Week went out to the public in the nude, as the so-called “liquid dress” was applied to her body.
3. Or wear two sets at once
Victoria's Secret models - everything from Miranda Kerr to Candice Swanepoel - also wore "spare" ones under the designer panties, only in flesh color. It was their insurance in case of force majeure - for example if the underwear suddenly dispersed right during the show.
4. Suffer from dandruff and split ends more than others
Dandruff and weak hair structure are urgent problems for every second model. Their hair is under constant stress: they are continually twisted, straightened, varnished, and combed. Therefore, in their free time, Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner, and Nicola Peltz even refuse shampoo.
5. Don't drink water before the show
Adriana Lima said that 7-9 days before the show, she refused solid food and ate only protein shakes. And 12 hours before the important event, the model did not even drink water.
6. Use eye drops
Models have to follow a strict schedule, but during major events, such as Fashion Week, the schedule goes astray. They get up early, stay up late, worry a lot, and deliberately limit themselves to food. All this can affect appearance. In order not to seem too tired, the girls resort to various tricks. Model Ducky Toth admitted that eye drops have always saved her.
7. Apply makeup not only on the face but also on the body
“Angel” Victoria’s Secret Selita Ebanks admitted that the skin of all the models on the show looks perfect not only because of the careful care but also thanks to the make-up artists. Several layers of foundation could be applied to the girls' bodies to hide minor defects, remove glare and emphasize shapes.
8. Change the shape with overlays
Fans of models often wonder: how do girls change so quickly? Just a couple of weeks ago, her figure was smaller, and her hips were narrower, but now the forms have become completely different. It's not about diets or hard training, but about special overlays for the hips and chest. This device is often used by plus-size models - for example, Ashley Graham.
9. They are on a diet even with plus-size parameters
Girls with outstanding forms are also forced to limit themselves in nutrition. Ashley Graham did not hide the fact that she and her colleagues have a harder time than slim girls. Plus-size models must maintain certain figure parameters, but prevent obesity. So eat whatever you want, it won't work - you need a special diet.
10. Refuse tattoos
There are brands that encourage non-standard models with tattoos, but in the world of big fashion, tattoos on the body are undesirable. Models have to either give up tattoos altogether or make them small and inconspicuous. Kaia Gerber, Gisele Bündchen, Adriana Lima, and Kendall Jenner have these.
