By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/worlds-oldest-bottle-of-whiskey-to-be-auctioned.htmlAt the online auction Skinner at the end of June will put up the oldest bottle of whiskey Old Ingledew. The drink was produced between 1762 and 1802 in Georgia and bottled in the 1860s. It is expected that for a rare drink it will be possible to get from 20 to 40 thousand dollars (about one and a half to three million rubles).
It is unlikely that whiskey, which is more than two centuries old, can still be consumed, since the shelf life of the drink in unopened form is about ten years.
To determine the exact dating of the whiskey, it took the help of scientists from the University of Georgia — with the help of a special needle, they were able to extract a small sample of the liquid. It turned out that the bourbon was bottled in 1763-1803. This was then confirmed by researchers from the University of Glasgow.
Skinner's expert on rare alcoholic beverages, Joseph Hyman, said that this bottle of whiskey "is considered the only survivor from the JP Morgan cellar, donated in the 1940s to the Washington elite."
Meanwhile, the British James Gilpin under his unique brand Gilpin Family Whisky produces exclusive alcohol, which not everyone can decide to drink. This is whiskey made from the urine of people with diabetes. It is not clear why such a drink was invented, but it also found its consumer.
