The author of the paintings did not spoil the viewer with unexpected plots - his uniqueness lay elsewhere. The emphasis of each painting is its heroine, her mood and inner world. (Warning! Nudity).
Marcel René von Herfeldt was born in 1889 in Paris. His parents, Alice Herfeldt and Luis Ricardo Falero, were famous artists, so the boy grew up in a creative atmosphere. Marcel began drawing at the age of 5, and after graduating from school, he decided to follow in the footsteps of his parents.
Young von Herfeldt went traveling, wanting to find a mentor who would help him develop as a painter. The artist's first teacher was Franz von Stuck; Marcel spent many months in his Munich workshop. Then the young man took lessons in Florence and Paris.
The artist's style, combining realistic and expressionist elements, is well recognizable. Most often, Marcel Rene von Herfeldt turned to female erotic images. Many consider the master’s work to be monotonous, since the subjects of his paintings are very similar. This is due to the fact that at the peak of his career, von Herfeldt had serious commercial success and literally put the creation of canvases on stream.
Despite the fact that the author does not indulge the viewer with a variety of subjects, his paintings are interesting thanks to carefully crafted female images. Marcel René von Herfeldt worked until his death in 1965. These days, his creations are popular in reproductions, which often do not even have the author’s signature. It's sad because the artist deserves to be known and remembered. Therefore, we have selected the best of his paintings and decided to introduce you to them.
Contemporary American artist Eric Wallis paints paintings similar in plot and mood.
