But doctors say that this is a bad idea, and explain why it is harmful to work at a laptop while lying down.
Studies have shown that working on a laptop lying down is just as harmful as reading a book in this position. This position of the body is not physiological for mental work and therefore its effectiveness is low. In addition, it is very difficult to choose the optimal position of the screen in relation to the eyes. Because of this, an additional load acts on vision, the spine, the muscles of the back and neck, as well as the vessels of the brain.
It is not only about adults, but also about children and teenagers. Since at a young age the muscles of the eyes and back are not yet strong, there is a high probability of acquiring myopia or problems with the spine. Ophthalmologist at SM-Clinic Arpine Adamyan says this about it:
Many people think that if they just watch TV shows lying down on a laptop, then this will not bring harm. This is an erroneous opinion, since the load remains the same, and sometimes even higher. The thing is that when watching movies, a person is more focused on the screen and rarely changes body position.
Doctors recommend working at a computer while sitting, at a table, in a comfortable chair. At the same time, it is important to take small breaks every 20-30 minutes to give your eyes and back a rest. During the break, you need to get up, walk around, look into the distance and try to relax. On the organization of the workplace is not worth saving. The chair should be with a supporting back, and the distance from the eyes to the center of the monitor is at least 50 cm. You also need to organize comfortable lighting and a favorable microclimate in the room.
Finally, it is worth noting that diseases caused by improper work at the computer do not manifest themselves immediately. Many do not even suspect what exactly caused the loss of vision and excruciating back pain. In case of alarming symptoms, you should not wait - it is better to immediately consult a doctor and start treatment.
