Men want to surprise and please their beloved women by carefully planning such an important event. Unfortunately, sometimes things don't go according to plan.
Recently we wrote about a young Briton who burned down an apartment, wanting to make a pleasant surprise with an offer to his fiancee. It turns out that such a case is far from the only one. Read about the curious and serious failures during the marriage proposal further in our material.
Perhaps the most romantic and touching moment of a relationship can be hopelessly spoiled if strangers or unexpected circumstances interfere with it. These three couples got into awkward situations and shared vivid memories of failed episodes with the proposal.
Lynette Morse, 38, and Cameron, 38, from Glasgow, have been together for 9 years. Four years ago, Cameron decided to propose to his beloved when they were vacationing in Mexico. As a result, the couple made local news headlines.
The lovers went on a dream vacation to a five-star hotel in Cancun. They had just checked into the room, without having time to unpack their suitcases, and decided to have a glass of wine on the balcony with a beautiful view of the sea.
Cameron got down on one knee to propose to Lynette. During his romantic speech, a huge dragonfly began to circle around the woman. The British woman screamed and tried to drive the insect away first with a menu sheet from the table, and then with a bouquet that the groom had thoughtfully prepared for her. As a result, the bouquet fell from the balcony.
It turned out that there was a ring hidden inside the flowers! Cameron was in shock. The man began to panic and immediately rushed up the stairs to find a bouquet. Flowers landed on trees near the hotel where wild monkeys lived. Suddenly Lynette noticed a monkey playing with a small shiny object. The groom climbed a tree to take away the ring, but the cunning monkey climbed higher and higher. Then Cameron couldn't resist, fell down, right on the rocks, and lost consciousness.
The Briton was taken to the hospital with a concussion and numerous scratches and bruises. He spent three days in a hospital room and never proposed to his beloved. He never managed to get the ring back. Four years have passed since then, but Cameron has not tried to repeat the romantic moment.
Lindsay, 43, and James Bleakley, 41, live in Bangor, Northern Ireland. They met 8 years ago, and after a year of relationship, the man decided to propose to his beloved. For a romantic moment, he chose a date surrounded by the maximum number of superstitions and conjectures - Friday, the 13th!
The groom ordered a bottle of champagne and invited his beloved to the Jacuzzi on the roof of the hotel, from where beautiful views of Belfast opened. In order not to lose the ring, he tied it to the lace on his swimming trunks. The lovers were relaxing in a hot bath, enjoying champagne and a romantic atmosphere, when suddenly uninvited guests broke the wonderful moment. A famous Irish sports reporter and his cameraman appeared near the jacuzzi in their underpants, and then jumped into it, recording the program!
James realized that it was better to postpone the proposal, and the lovers quickly left the jacuzzi. As a result, the man proposed to his beloved to marry him the same evening at dinner in a restaurant, and 5 months later the couple got married.
49-year-old Samantha Brick lives in Montpazier, France. She recalls how she dreamed of a romantic proposal when, closer to the age of 30, all her friends were already engaged. At that time, the woman was dating her ex-husband.
Ex-boyfriend invited Samantha on vacation to India for Christmas is a few days before her 31st birthday. She was looking forward to him asking her the cherished question: "Will you become my wife?". But the vacation time passed, and my beloved did not make any proposals.
On the afternoon of the New Year, a British woman woke up with a terrible allergy. Her face, arms and legs were swollen and doubled in size. The couple was seriously scared. Samantha's skin itched terribly. Her ex-husband immediately took her to the hospital. It turned out that the woman had developed a serious allergic reaction. She was offered either to take medications for several days, or to put an IV drip to eliminate the swelling as soon as possible. Samantha chose the latter.
The doctor called the hotel and told them to change the bed linen in their room, to clean, washed without using powder. Samantha was put on a drip and then discharged. Nevertheless, the swelling and redness did not disappear. She was assured that everything would pass soon. At night, the skin began to itch again, and the face did not decrease.
Every man wants to make an unforgettable marriage proposal, but few people will dare to set themselves on fire for the sake of a spectacular moment. A desperate stuntman from the UK decided to present a ring to his beloved, burning in the fire.
