The extremely risky operation was successful ... and suddenly, at the end, a miniature infant hand appeared from the incision, which squeezed the surgeon's finger, as if begging not to leave without help!
This touching moment caught the lens of a photographer present in the operating room. The picture called "The Hand of Hope" became famous all over the world.
The operation to eliminate the defect was successful. Samuel Alexander Armas was born on December 2, 1999. Such a boy was in 2012.
Today he is already 16 years old. Despite some restrictions that the boy has to comply with due to the remaining problems with the spine, he can be considered lucky, to whom the timely intervention of surgeons gave a full life.
