Recently, a photo project of Russian photographer Sergey Stroitelev was published, where he filmed the contents of the handbags of St. Petersburg women and their portraits on documents. VICE magazine decided to follow his example and gave the task to editorial offices in different countries to do the same. Briton Chloe Orefis gutted the handbags of her compatriots in order to see the inner world of women of the Foggy Albion through the prism of their contents. What do British women carry with them every day? In many ways it depends on the type of occupation, age, social status. The contents of a woman's bag can tell a lot.

Noemi, 25, university graduate and film director.

"I was very hesitant before agreeing to this assignment, mainly because I wasn't sure I could involve enough different women. Then I thought that I would accept this challenge after all," the photographer recalls. — I started asking women I know to look at what they have in their bags. It was quite simple and helped to naturally expand the circle to the acquaintances and friends of my friends. Many people didn't understand the concept, even though they agreed to participate, and others just said, "No, I have a lot of junk in my bag." To which I had a question in my head: if your bag is full of all sorts of junk, why do you carry it with you anyway?"

"In general, most of the women agreed until I asked them for an ID photo. A couple of women refused at this stage. This experience has taught me that women between the ages of 20 and 35 are much more ashamed of photos on documents than of any of their other things. On the contrary, older women showed me everything I asked for without any questions—they didn't worry so much about making a good impression. They were also more likely to carry something strange with them and less likely to have decorative cosmetics with them," says Chloe.
