"We shoot to make people ask questions": a selection of photos desperately demanding explanations

The photographs can be portraits, landscapes, reports, erotica. Or they could simply be strange, simultaneously puzzling and uplifting. Such photographs often look absurd and in order to understand what is happening in them, the author's explanations are necessary. But the authors, as a rule, keep the intrigue, and perhaps they themselves do not always know what kind of story is unfolding in front of the lens.

Greek film director Yorgos Lanthimos once said: “We shoot so that people ask questions.” The pictures we offer you to evaluate today are like art-house cinema. They do not just excite the imagination and raise a lot of questions – they act as psychotherapy, taking us away from problems and making us smile at something unknown.

These photos look like arthouse films. It is not always clear whether a drama or a comedy is unfolding before us. They all desperately need context, since the viewer can come up with an infinite number of interpretations and still hit the nail on the head.
