Was Hitler a homosexual or is this part of USSR propaganda?

Many bloodthirsty monsters had problems accepting their orientation: Andrei Chikatilo, Anatoly Slivko, Henry Lee Lucas. Unfortunately, this rule often works on a global scale, namely, in relation to political leaders. But the main thing here is not to follow the lead of rumors and propaganda.
Adolf Hitler, one of the worst villains in history, was portrayed as a crazy homosexual. Was this a propaganda ploy, or was the Fuhrer actually a closeted gay? Let's understand this story by comparing propaganda materials and real facts.
Hitler's orientation was first mentioned by the German expert on sexual deviations and political emigrant Arthur Kronfeld. He fled the Nazi regime at the beginning of the war and lived and worked in Moscow. In August 1941, the doctor published a propaganda brochure “Degenerates in Power.”
In his work, Kronfeld argued that power in Germany was seized by homosexuals, led by the Fuhrer. The scientist substantiated his position with information from trusted sources and personal medical experience. The German insisted that the atrocities of the Nazis were due to the fact that they were controlled by gays with sadistic tendencies and a whole list of deviations and complexes.
It must be said that Kronfeld knew a lot about perversions. Before his escape in 1936, the doctor was one of the European luminaries in the field of sexual deviations. He began working at the Institute of Sexual Sciences, founded by Professor M. Hirschfeld in 1919.
Very soon, the talented psychologist was appointed head of the “Department of Mental Sexual Disorders.” This was one of the most difficult areas at the institute. The department's scientists tried to understand how sexual problems are related to mental disorders. This was an era when it was fashionable in Europe to treat homosexuality. Kronfeld was one of the leading experts in this field.
At that time, they tried to “reorient” homosexuals in many ways, not always humane. For this purpose, hypnosis, electric shock, and even small doses of poisons were used. By the way, this is how gay people continue to be treated in some places today. Arthur Kronfeld also took part in criminal experiments on eugenics. He was a proponent of the idea that the human “breed” should be improved by scientific methods.
So Dr. Kronfeld was still that fruit. He died in the same year, 1941, a few months after the publication of the brochure. The scientist and his wife drank lethal doses of sleeping pills when the Germans approached Moscow. Both understood perfectly well what would happen to them if the Nazis captured the capital.
Arthur Kronfeld died, but his work lived on. The brochure “Degenerates in Power” was published in huge quantities and found its way into every library in a huge country. Moreover, excerpts from it were constantly quoted in Soviet newspapers and even read out on the radio.
Homosexuality was made a crime in 1934. From that moment on, people with unconventional orientation became complete outcasts. Of course, everywhere gays began to be considered enemies of Soviet society, perverts and simply villains. This type was very suitable for the hated fascists. In the mid-30s, writer Maxim Gorky said this:
The topic of homosexuality was shamelessly exploited for a variety of purposes. There are well-known cases where “enemies of the people” were aggravated by accusations of homosexuality. In this way, they showed everyone an example of a “finally corrupted morally fascist henchman.”
An article about homosexuality was added to the case of the head of the NKVD Nikolai Yezhov. She added to the accusations of espionage. Yezhov was bisexual, but who understood this in those days? The enemy was promptly tried and immediately shot.
It is not surprising that Hitler's homosexuality was so interesting to Soviet propaganda. Moreover, Kronfeld described his personality as repulsively as possible. To make it clear what the scientist wrote about, we present excerpts from his work “Degenerates in Power.” In it, the doctor talks about his personal experience of communicating with the Fuhrer when he was still a political prisoner. This is how Kronfeld describes Hitler’s appearance:
Yes, this is a quote from a propaganda pamphlet, but this is exactly how Hitler and dozens of other people who knew him personally described him.
Agree, the person described is very unpleasant. Next, Kronfeld moves on to details of the personal life of the future Fuhrer, which are no less disgusting for Soviet people:
Hanussen was killed on February 2, 1933, on the orders of Ernst, or perhaps he himself. It is known about Ernst that he worked as a floor polisher in the Berlin gay bar Hollandais until 1923. Ernst allegedly let slip about Hitler’s connection with Gaines. And later, in 1934, Goebbels rang about Gaines’ homosexuality. This was done, obviously, to justify another political murder.
About Hitler’s state of health, including mental health, Kronfeld writes:
The brochure also devotes a lot of attention to Hess, the Fuhrer’s personal secretary until 1934. For his fanatical adoration of Hitler, he was called “Fräulein Hess” behind his back. Kronfeld also considered him a psychopath, albeit less aggressive. The author argued that it is not just a matter of loyalty. Hess was called the dictator's lover even by his close associates.
There is no reason not to believe the scientist. Moreover, he was not the only one to raise the issue of the dictator’s homosexuality. After the end of the war and Hitler's death, his homosexual adventures were no longer discussed. The publication “Degenerates in Power” was no longer published, and the topic of the Fuhrer’s gay orientation was consigned to oblivion.
