Not only ordinary users suffer from this. Vienna museums do not agree with the policy of Zuckerberg's services and have opened an account on OnlyFans in protest. Now they publish nude pictures of paintings and sculptures on this adult website.
It all started two years ago, when Instagram blocked images of a painting by Rubens. This year, the social network again deleted the post of the Vienna Leopold Museum with Moser's painting. The reason was the allegedly pornographic nature of the image. The account of the Albertina Gallery in Tiktok was completely deleted because of numerous paintings with naked female breasts.
Due to the policy of social networks, paintings by Egon Schiele, Nobuyoshi Araki and even pictures of Venus de Milo were removed. Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok moderation systems do not distinguish between users' nuances and works of art. Sometimes paintings and sculptures had to be published partially in order to be passed by censorship.
It happened that museums added snide explanations to the posts: "I'm sorry, but the ladies on the old masterpieces are too good." But neither transparent hints nor numerous direct appeals to the offices of social networks have borne fruit.
Moderators of social networks refused to reconsider their attitude to art, referring to the current rules. Museums were offended by this attitude to art and stopped keeping accounts on Zuckerberg's websites. Instead, Austrian museum workers have registered on the OnlyFans service and are now posting photos of masterpieces there. Now the adult website is not just a resource for fans of "strawberries", but also a mouthpiece of culture.
Sometimes classical paintings can be too explicit. But in the case of the museums of Vienna, we are not talking about these masterpieces.
