Twelve camels were disqualified from the annual beauty contest in Saudi Arabia, when it turned out that their owners used Botox to make the contestants more attractive.

The animals were kicked out of the competition, which was held as part of the camel festival, due to violations of strict rules. The festival takes place in the suburbs of Riyadh for 28 days and includes not only a beauty contest, but also horse racing, a demonstration of camel training skills, the art of working with camel hair and other competitions. The prize fund of the competition is $ 57 million, so the organizers take all violations seriously.

Last year, a special guide to the beauty contest was released, which states: "Camels who find drugs in their lips, shaved or painted body parts or changes in their natural shape are not allowed to participate in the competition." There were as many as 12 such "desert ships" with inflated lips this year. Some owners even managed to make up their pets with cosmetics.

Last year, the event was moved from a remote part of the desert to the outskirts of the capital, where a permanent place for the festival was organized. There is an auction where you can buy a camel, and the hotel nearby has grocery stores, souvenir shops, a zoo with camels and a museum of sand sculptures, of course, camels. There are also tents where you can taste camel milk or buy products made from their wool. Guests of the festival can visit the planetarium to see how in ancient times the Arabs traveled on camels, guided by the stars. It is expected that this year the festival will be visited by about 300 thousand guests.
