It turned out that an impressive amount from the family budget is spent on official visits of monarchs.
The royal family's travels cost taxpayers 4.5 million pounds annually. The most expensive were the visits of Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles to Romania, Italy and Austria. It cost the royal family 154 thousand pounds. Another small trip this year to Lancashire for 46 thousand pounds was made by Prince Charles.
Prince William and Kate Middleton were in second place in terms of travel expenses. The couple spent almost 100 thousand pounds on a trip to India and Bhutan. Plane tickets for a couple with an escort cost 35 thousand pounds, and another 62 thousand went to a private plane for domestic flights in these countries. According to media reports, William and Kate were accompanied by 12 people on this trip.
Prince William's two-day trip to Vietnam cost 37 thousand pounds. For a visit to Paris, Prince William and Kate Middleton rented a private plane for 20 thousand pounds.

Of course, such trips for members of the royal family are not holidays at all. Monarchs spend most of their time on official visits, and their day is scheduled by the minute. And excursions to cultural monuments last no more than 40 minutes.
