These two left everything and went traveling — with their cat

This couple sold all their possessions, bought a yacht and since August 12, 2011 has been living the way many of us dream. Matt and Jessica Johnson, 32, had a good job: he sold cars, and she was a billing manager.

To date, the Johnsons have already visited 16 countries, including the Bahamas, Jamaica, Cuba and Peru. Their cat Georgie, who can swim, travels with them!

"We were living a typical American dream. We graduated, got married, bought a house, made a career. We haven't had time to have 2.5 children yet! — said the couple in an interview with the Daily Mail. — We spent too many weekends watching TV, not doing anything pleasant and useful. We realized that we need to change something!"

"It all started in the summer of 2007, we were on Lake Michigan."

  "Matt was looking at the boats and suddenly said that one day he would also like to travel on the water."

  "He said we can either buy a house or save money and buy a yacht."

  "In the end, we decided that it would be better to spend our holidays on the water."

  "We sold our house in June 2011 when we realized that we wanted to travel for a long time, maybe for four or five years. In July, both quit their jobs, sold their cars and were ready for a new life."

  In 2012, the couple sheltered a cat.

  "We also heard a lot of stories from other people about how they postponed the fulfillment of their dreams for later, and then for one reason or another the dream was no longer feasible."

  At some point, the Johnsons accidentally discovered that the cat could swim.

  "She swam around the yacht and climbed back up the ladder."
