A truly talented artist has the most real magic and is able to show you something that the naked eye may well miss and not notice. Kansas photographer David Lane spent four months photographing the Milky Way over Yellowstone Park, and the result was stunning images of the "night rainbow."

1. "Get away from the world, move away from the city for 20-30 miles ..."

The art of proper night photography always requires some technical know-how. To begin with, David Lane adjusted the saturation of the atmospheric glow. The night sky is never completely dark, because light, though weak, still penetrates the atmosphere of the planet. Lane increased saturation by 10%. For some photos, he took up to 16 shots to get the right image.
