The porn star stopped with the past and became... a Christian pastor

The story of an unusual transformation — after 10 years in porn, the mother of three children ended her career for the sake of serving the church.

33-year-old American Crystal Bassett starred in 100 adult films and once earned 300 thousand dollars a year from porn, which she spent on entertainment, booze and cars. But after some events, the woman abruptly changed her life course and became a pastor.

Crystal Basset has more than 10 years of career in the porn industry, but she is striking with drastic changes in life. Her story is unique and instructive.

Crystal Bassett, nee DiGregorio, was born and raised in North Carolina. At the age of 16, she became pregnant and decided to move to California and make a career in Hollywood. In the early years, she worked as a model and dancer, took part in pole dancing competitions. But in order to provide for herself and her son Justin, Crystal eventually moved into the porn industry, because there she could earn up to 30 thousand dollars a month.

Having starred in her first film, Crystal plunged into a new career for a long ten years under the pseudonym Nadia Hilton. At first, as she admits, it was not easy: after the first filming, the girl cried for two hours in the shower. A whole month of long thoughts passed between the debut in adult cinema and participation in the next porn project. Krystal decided to continue, but often during filming she took pills or was pumped up with alcohol.

"Gradually, porn filming became a perfect daily routine — I usually took my son to school in the morning, and then went to work until the evening. It was as usual for me as for normal people to go to the office from 9 to 5," the former porn star shares her memories. She admits that her family has always supported her, but tried to convince her to change her occupation. "Mom was always on my side and always told me to make my own decisions in life. And my father, of course, was just beside himself when he found out what I was doing in California."

Over time, Crystal bought herself a luxurious mansion, became the owner of her own nightclub Club Crystal, bought expensive sports cars. At the peak of her career in porn, a woman earned about 300 thousand dollars a year. In addition, Crystal was an excellent dancer — she started dancing at the age of 7 — and in this capacity appeared in commercials on MTV, and also starred for the men's edition of FHM.

Drinking and partying were commonplace in the everyday life of a porn star.

In her free time, Crystal hung out a lot and squandered a lot of money on booze and parties. Gradually, she developed an alcohol addiction, and problems with alcohol became the cause of life failures. "In those days, I just lived for myself and my son, not for a minute thinking about tomorrow and the consequences that my career in porn could lead to."

The car accident was a turning point in Crystal's life.

In 2011, her institution Club Crystal closed, when once again his license to sell alcohol was taken away from him. At that time, Crystal was experiencing a destructive and difficult relationship with the father of her second child, London, with whom she eventually broke up. And in May 2014, she got into a car accident, once again sitting drunk behind the wheel. The girl suffered relatively little, getting off with bruises and a broken nose, but after the incident came an epiphany that something needed to change in life.

After a series of failures, Crystal turned to God. She started going to church regularly and decided to quit the porn business. Although at the same time she had to work out a contract and star in two more scenes, which was incredibly difficult.

The troubles brought big changes in Crystal's life.

Looking back, Crystal believes that she started working in the sex industry because she was molested when she was a teenager. "Everything is fine with me now," says the former porn star, "but several years of therapy and the like are behind me. But now I understand why I chose the life I lived for a whole decade."

Crystal met her current husband, 26-year—old David, at church - he was a pastor in her sister's parish. The couple got married in December 2014, and soon they had a son, Carter. About her husband, Crystal says: "He is one of those people who understand that the past remains in the past. And don't look back. What was, is gone."

After Crystal gave up her porn career, she studied to be a paralegal, and then decided to become a pastor. She and her husband opened their own church, Christian Life New Beginning, in Fulton, New York.

Crystal Bassett and her husband David hope that their love story will inspire other people.

The couple believe that the story of Crystal's life changes and their love will become a source of inspiration for other people. "I hope that people will learn the main lesson that the Lord forgives each of us, regardless of what we did in the past, and will also be able to understand that fame and money are not the main thing in this world," David told reporters.

And Crystal confessed: "Looking back, I realize that I don't regret anything, because my past made me who I am today. If I had worked as a teacher for these 10 years, perhaps I would not be helping people now, but would be a completely different person. My past has made me who I am, and God has radically changed my life. I don't worry about my appearance anymore. I don't care about money. I only think about helping people."
